Brigham Young University believes that, along with our responsibility to educate students and to prudently use the sacred funds entrusted to us, we have a responsibility to be wise stewards of the earth and its resources. The Lord said, “For it is expedient that I, the Lord, should make every man accountable, as a steward over earthly blessings, which I have made and prepared for my creatures.” (Doctrine & Covenants 104:13)
At BYU, this means we pursue opportunities for sustainability that we believe make a genuine difference and that also makes economic sense. Brian K. Evans, BYU’s Chief Financial Officer, and Administrative Vice President is responsible for university sustainability. He is assisted by personnel from a variety of campus departments including Planning, Maintenance, Grounds, Recycling, and Dining Services.
